Capitalise on local, regional or national needs
With a tight network of offices and clever account management, our employees know the governments and its issues, and can place these within a (local) social context. As a result, they can capitalise on current situations, but also anticipate future developments. The exchange of information, knowledge and expertise take an important place within our company. Local, regional or national, ‘best practices’ are shared fast.
At home in all social themes
Grontmij works for local authorities, provinces, regional and federal governments, and in doing so, it aims for long-term collaboration. Together with government institutions, we tackle the social challenges with regards to a.o. environment, energy, spatial planning and transportation:
-
Improve the quality of surface water
Grontmij introduces an innovative and integral approach to the drainage of waste and surface water. In doing so, the disconnection of rainwater and the separate drainage of wastewater are crucial. In addition, Grontmij is at the basis of the successful development of the pressure sewage system. This system offers advantages during the implementation, assured operation and gets the inhabitants involved in the water management.
-
Generate green power
Belgium is lagging behind in Europe when it comes to generating power via solar panels. Grontmij wants to change this and be exemplary together with the government. Various energy producers are already showing interest to use government buildings, with often-enormous roof surfaces, to install solar panels. Grontmij advises the local governments, provides a feasibility study, and supports them until actual implementation.
-
Increase quality of life for inhabitants and passers-by
Grontmij gives a lot of importance to the careful design of the spaces in which we live and move. The realisation of quality streets, squares, parks and landscapes is an important leverage to contribute to a better housing, working and living environment in a meaningful way. That is why we pay extensive attention to developing solutions that meet the demands and requirements of all users.
-
Untie the mobility problem
The fact that our society has mobility problems is generally known. Traffic jams are daily news. All the parties involved recognise that congestion has a heavy economic impact and is also very demanding on the environment. With a wide range of policy initiatives and infrastructural measures, local and supra-local governments are working on improving access to urban and economic centres. Grontmij’s traffic specialists assist them and day after day look for creative and sustainable solutions for roads, railways and waterways.
-
Activate public transport
Together with the public transport companies, Grontmij looks for innovative solutions with bus, tram and train. A nice example of this is the feasibility study for Light Rail in Flanders, in which three promising projects have been indentified. Light Rail is faster than a tram, lighter and cheaper than a train. Light Rail does not only connect urban and rural areas, but it also creates opportunities for further development.
