Strategic and dynamic traffic models
Grontmij uses various traffic models, which give the planner and the designer a better insight into the traffic situation, and which contribute to formulating the right solutions. On the one hand, there are strategic models that simulate the traffic flows across larger areas. They calculate a.o. the traffic intensity, the loss times and the route choices. On the other hand, there are dynamic models, which allow for modelling the effective dynamic traffic behaviour. This can be on the level of an intersection, to measure the capacity of a roundabout or to design traffic lights control. It can also be on the level of an entire city, whereby the effects of specific changes in the traffic behaviour are simulated.
