Buildings explicitly give shape and expression to the environmental and social framework in which we live. After all, our lives happen in and around buildings. Environmentally, aesthetically, conceptually and functionally, they all have to fit like a glove.
Multidisciplinary strategy
Grontmij designs buildings taking into account the program of demands (standards, atmosphere), the environmental context (location, orientation, surroundings, urban planning conditions) and the social environment (laws and regulations, EPB, sustainability). The result is a logical, coherent structure, pure architecture and a strong technical concept. In doing so, the specific technical expertise, the creative and innovated processes are consciously parallel. We strongly believe in striving for a valuable and meaningful cross-fertilisation. Grontmij can professionally use this multidisciplinary strategy thanks to an extensive team of specialists in all involved disciplines: structural engineering, special techniques, architecture and urban planning, infrastructure, transportation and public space, sustainability and environment, safety and management.
Respect for the future
The future-oriented vision that characterise Grontmij’s approach to every project starts from honest respect for the future. In consultation with the client, specific targets with regards to sustainability are formulated, a.o. for the use of land and materials, the choice of techniques, the K- and E-level and the lifecycle of the building. Afterwards, we translate these into an adequate architecture, with suitable materials and techniques, and a sound maintenance management.
