Construction Management, involved from the start

As well as the professional management of multidisciplinary sites, at Grontmij ‘Construction Management’ also means ensuring optimum input from a construction perspective during the engineering phases. A project's construction phase usually takes the largest chunk of our clients' budgets. This is why we involve our construction specialists in the engineering phase right from the beginning.

Our construction specialists work together with our customers to find the most suitable engineering options, in such a way that:

• Safety, cost, time and quality are optimised during construction (Constructability);
• After construction, the new plant can be maintained and operated safely and in a cost-efficient manner (Maintainability & Operability).

Early construction input is couched in our ‘Constructability Programme’. Our many years of experience with complex, multidisciplinary projects mean we have had time to build up and perfect our methodology. It keeps our customers happy because we provide safe solutions that come in on budget. We also provide the best quality of service and our lead times are shorter.

Once the engineering phase is complete, it is Construction Management's job to manage the site as professionally and efficiently as possible, a concept that includes Mechanical Completion. To this end we employ our own Construction Management Quality System, which takes various project related elements into account: Money, Organisation, Time, Information, Quality and Safety.

Grontmij relies on its skilled team of in-house employees to take care of all day-to-day Construction Management and Constructability activities. Our staff consists of:

• Construction Managers 
• Construction Supervisors (for various technical disciplines) 
  Qa/Qc Managers 
• Safety Managers
• Planners 
• Contracts Managers

We also have a number of permanent Safety Coordinators for Temporary and Mobile Construction Sites, Level A. They advise both clients and our in-house staff during the design stage and throughout the entire project realisation.
