3D Laser scanning
Debottlenecking and revamp of existing production units is increasingly a major challenge. Especially because in many cases the actual physical state cannot be delivered as 2D drawings or 3D models. Creating "as-is" documents in the engineering preliminary phase is also very intensive in terms of both cost and turnaround time. As a result of the use of Laser scanning Grontmij is able to limit this preliminary phase to a minimum
How does laser scanning work?
The current generation of laser scanners register 1,000,000 points per second within a range of ± 70 metres around the scanner position. This within a total tolerance of 5mm. The device meticulously measures everything in detail within its field of vision. Multiple scans are taken from different positions, to obtain a complete picture (constructed as a scatter diagram in colour) of the existing unit. The measurements are then smoothly and accurately integrated into the existing CAD tools and Review environment. Laser scanning technology allows us to achieve a new and accurate CAD design in combination with the actual physical state.
