Construction Manager

Construction Managers, or Site Managers, do a very different job in the world of industrial projects to their colleagues in the more classical construction projects. Grontmij Industry engineers and designers enjoy a close-knit working relationship and this deep involvement during the design phase gives the work an additional substantive dimension.

As with the Industrial Surveyors, project engineering knowledge is of great benefit to the construction manager himself and the client.

There is plenty of variety in the Construction Manager's work: the number of sites, the type of site, the technical content required to realise the projects, the size of the sites, the team you are responsible for during the project and so on.

Sometimes you supervise the construction of a new installation on a plot of wasteland, while other times you work on a project in a plant environment while it is in production. No matter the locale, you will always deal with some sort of challenge.

As a Construction Manager you have to keep a cool head in stressful situations, offer solutions, take charge of the schedule and motivate your staff.

You are a true people manager, as it were. However, you are also reasonably free to organise your own day and you often work beyond the four walls of your office. You know a lot of people and get the opportunity to express yourself fully.
