Pilot system for Bio Base Europe
BIO BASE EUROPE, a Ghent Bio-Energy Valley in Belgium and Bio Park Terneuzen in the Netherlands initiative, is entrusting the basic engineering for the realisation of a test plant for bio-based products and processes to Grontmij Industry.
In this test plant, the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, second-generation biofuels will be developed along with bioplastics, bio chemicals, biomaterials and biodetergents. The new pilot system, sited in the Ghent port area, will bridge the gap between the development of basic technology and industrial production.
The Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant operates according to the "open innovation" principle and is accessible to companies developing bio-based processes and to investigate whether they are suitable for large-scale production.
