Pharma: Focus on plant modification projects
In Western Europe life science industry has become a mature market. Whether we like this or not, most of the major Greenfield investments have shifted to the Far East, with the major exception being projects in the biotech industry. In our regions the growing majority of projects within the life science industry are now modifications, retrofits and extensions to existing plants and installations.
These type of projects are generated by a number of drivers, like the need to keep up with cGMP requirements, the company wide reorganisation programmes driven by cost efficiency, the introduction of new products in existing plant environments, etc. Many of these projects tend to be very complex from a planning and cGMP point of view.
